Floral Designer, Tom Williamson, and Shiloh Church Preservation established the Christmas Tea in 1986. The tea is a lovely way to begin the Christmas season and provides an opportunity to reflect on our lives and the reason we celebrate Christmas. It helps us to remember the simpler times and to appreciate God's many gifts.
All of the Christmas decorations used in Shiloh are found in nature. The natural beauty of all of the elements only serves to enhance the radiant beauty and serenity that is "Shiloh."
Due to the overwhelming support of the Christmas Tea, we are now holding four services and communion is no longer served. Each service consists of Chamber music, scripture reading, prayer, and fellowship. Between each service, a bagpiper plays on the grounds. Shiloh tea and sugar cookies are served.
Christmas Tea is free. An offering will be taken to cover expenses of the tea. Shiloh Church Preservation is always appreciative of donations for ongoing restorations.
Tom Williamson provides decorations each year from Flowers on Main in Troy, NC.
It is a quiet place one may go any time to be still and listen. Shiloh, a place spoken of as a sacred place, a place set apart, and a place kept plain, natural, and simple, seems to live up to the meaning of its name, "place where God dwells."
